The district's custodial and maintenance departments are looking for a way that when a school creates an inventory request -> it has to be approved -> after approval -> a work order is auto generated to pick the inventory, log their time, and then close the ticket once its completed.
I would like that so that way when I enter an inventory request, a work order would automatically be generated. That way the supervisor can assign it to the appropriate person, and knows what they are doing. Currently I have to put in a inventory request AND a work order. This would cut out one step of the process.
Thank you
Hi @Guest I see what you mean now. So you need a way to report labor across both inventory requests and work orders to report on productivity?
Im going to update this ideas status again from will not implement back to being reviewed by our team again based on this added context.
Yes, we use the dashboard in ML works on the top left and are accustomed to our previous software generating work orders when an inventory request is put in, which is another reason we were asking for it.
Hi @Guest - which dashboard are you utilizing? Is it the dashboard at the top of the left-side menu? or another dashboard?
We wouldn't track time on the inventory request because it doesn't populate work being completed in the dashboard that we utilize to prove the need for positions and to track productivity for our reporting. So we now need to generate a work order everytime that an inventory request comes through, which is quite simply a waste of our time.
Hi @Guest - I spoke with my team here and since we can handle this by logging labor time directly on the inventory request, I am going to update this ideas status to will not implement. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Best,
Sal
Hi @Guest , thank you for the idea submission!
Just so I am understanding correctly, the work order, in this case, would be needed to gather the materials needed to complete the inventory request and the custodial/maintenance worker can log their time on the work order for gathering the materials?
My follow-up question would be, why wouldn't you just have them log their time on the inventory request? Is it because they don't have permission to do so?
