Check out multiple assets as a component group

I have assets that have many components and are checked out frequently (wireless mic systems, mobile lighting rigs, etc.) In building the "Master" asset groups, I checked the box to "Include Related Assets on Requests". However, when I check out an asset with many components, none of the components are designated as "in use", indicating they'd been checked out. I need something like another checkbox for "Check-In/check-out related components". Checking out assets for 1 event can take hours with the single-asset method.
