The ability to restrict inventory categories/types based on user role

We would like the ability to restrict inventory categories/types based on the user role. For instance, custodial staff in our schools place inventory requests for certain items. However, we have inventory items we keep in stock for our maintenance staff that custodial staff would not need/use. We do not want these maintenance items to show as options when placing an inventory request but we want to have them for maintenance staff and to keep track of our inventory.
