Add "Work Order Title" as a field on Work Order Forms

  • WORK ORDERS: WE NEED A BRIEF “TITLE” OR “SUBJECT” FIELD before the Description field. We need the Subject line from helpdesk emails to populate that brief “title” field. We would also use it to add/adjust a short description of the issue, so we do not have to read and scroll past the full Description field every time we look at our open items.

  • Email is an important, and currently the most common way for us to receive helpdesk requests. There are a couple of reasons why the Description field (the body of an email) cannot be shorter:

    • Our school email has a confidentiality statement automatically appended at the end of it, and that gets included at the end of the description.

    • Staff members often type the request in the subject line of the email, and then don’t bother retyping it in the body, or will add details in the body without the actual problem indicated, because it’s already in the subject line.

    • We do not want to ask our staff to give us less information than they already do. We prefer they give us as much information as possible up front. We need the option of just displaying the shorter Title or Subject field on our running list of open work orders, and NOT have the large Description field showing at all on the list."

    Have there been any updates on this additional field? We're seeing it as an issue also.
